DE-EDUCATE CHILDREN to educate them .
This is what exactly the former Academic Head of Atomic Energy Central School, Mumbai, Kranti Kumar Gupta strongly believes in the innovative educationist drives home this point with his own set of ‘quotable quotes.
“Now education is teaching a lot. Understanding a jot and scoring a dot, as its methods are content-oriented and not concept-oriented. So DE-school, if you want to school your child,’ Gupta told HT.
He stressed the need for a ‘kranti’ that could shake off age-old cobwebs that the country’s educational sector is tangled in. According to Gupta. the present system not only impedes the child’s intellectual growth, but also impinges upon his psychological and moral character.
Education Gupta said, now targets on three ‘RS’ , “reading’, ‘writing’ and ‘arithmetic’ at the cost of Gandhian three ‘HS-Head’, ‘Head’ and ‘Heart’. “while Gandhi laid stress on intellectual enrichment (head), physical development (head) and emotional adjustment(heart), the system makes children cram things to his inbuilt style ultimately” he argued.
Gupta said parents, who expect and compares a lot, never correct the child’s mindset, but corrode it. Parental aspirations and prehensions eat into the child’s happy and healthy growth. He contended. “Care concern, consideration and in no case comparison would enable the child to be accepted, appreciated and finally approved.” He contended.
