He is always on the move. A 68 year old retired chief of regional academic cell of Atomic Energy Central School at Tarapur in Maharashtra, Kranti K Gupta is currently on mission busy giving tips to school teachers and students.
So far he has delivered lectures in more than 250 public schools spread over various parts of country about the healthy growth of students. He presented his small booklet, Tips for English Grammar’, to the Bihar governor recently for its free distribution among children.
A nationally acclaimed educationist, Gupta did his schooling from Sir Ganesh Higher Secondary School at Bakhtiarpur in Patana district. He is quite aghast at the present education scenario in the country talking about modern schools, he told TOI in Patna “Shops are being opened with palatial building. Students are not to be blamed alone. Parents as well as teachers play a vital role in the welfare of students.”
Gupta, who taught in various atomic energy Central schools, including at Narora, Jadugoda, Kakrapara Rawat Bhata and Tarapur said that parent’s aspirations and apprehensions are eating into the happy and healthy growth of children.
After serving for more than 45 years as English teacher in schools, Gupta is upset about the way pressure is being built up on the students by their parents, principals and teachers “Even a small child of four years was under pressure in the name of homework and class work. Teachers are busy completing the syllabus from cover to cover without caring least for the improvement in children, ” Gupta told
Talking about the standard of school teachers, he said : “We are now left with only average teachers and it is very difficult to expect something miraculous.”
Gupta’s 62-page book ‘Tips for English Grammar ’ has been appreciated by expert. Reader in English, NCERT, V K Bajpai praised the effort of Gupta in the foreword of his book. “I have requested the Bihar governor to distribute it among children seeking to improve their English language. The governor has asked me to send a proposal,” Gupta said.
